FAQ's about Aztec Tooling and Moulding

Q.  Will you deliver my goods on time?
A.  Yes.  One of our quality objectives is to deliver over 98% of items on time.  We have not dropped below 99.5% for over 8 years.  During that period we have delivered over 27 million parts on time.  We achieve this excellent delivery record through a combination of good planning and a desire to exceed our customers expectations.

Q.  How good is the quality of the mouldings that you produce?
A.  We aim for zero defects.  If our quality was not first class then we would not be supplying parts for Bosch boilers or Hella automotive lighting systems.

Q.  How competitive are you on the prices that you quote?
A.   We believe that we are very competitive as the company is run efficiently and does not have any debts or overdraft to service.  If a customer was transferring tools to us we would be looking at saving him at least 5% on their current prices.

Q. Will I need a mould tool for my plastic parts?
A. Yes, we only supply parts from an injection mould tool. We do not machine plastic.

Q. Will you hold stocks of my components?
A. Yes.  If you give us order cover we will manufacture for stock.  Producing larger quantities helps to keep the costs down.

Q. Can my mouldings be made in different colours?
A. Yes, we can mould in a full range of colours.

Q. Can the moulding material be changed if I want my items tougher?
A. Yes, however we have to use material with a similar mould shrinkage, so as not to jeopardise the tolerances of your items.

Q. Will my existing mould tools fit on your machines?
A. Yes, but it may need a small modification.

Q. What is the largest plastic moulding that you can make?
A. Our 200 tonne Krauss Maffei machine can mould items up to 310 square mm and 600 grams in weight.

Q. Would I need to order thousands of  mouldings?
A. No, we will be happy to provide you with the quantity that you need.  However, a point to note is that a larger order reduces the item price.

Q.  Are all mould tools made out of the same metal?
A.  No, the majority are made from steel or fully hardened steel however the least expensive tools are made from Aluminium.  A full explanation is given in the ‘Toolmaking’ section of this site.
